Aqara has added two lights to its Matter range in China: an E14 version of the LED Bulb T2 and a multicolour LED Strip T2. Matter Alpha reported the launch on 21 October 2026, citing Aqara's Chinese channels. Neither product has a global release date yet.

An E14 bulb that speaks Thread

The E14 screw base is common in bedside lamps, chandeliers and wall sconces, especially in Europe and China. Matter Alpha points out that it is still poorly served by Matter over Thread bulbs, and many E14 options rely on Zigbee or Wi-Fi instead. The T2 family so far had E26/E27 bulbs and GU10 spotlights.

Like the rest of the T2 line, the new bulb has two radio modes. It runs Zigbee by default, which ties it into Aqara Home. You can switch it to Thread, and then it joins Matter directly through a compatible Thread border router, so it can be used with Apple Home, Google Home, SmartThings or Home Assistant.

The RGB version offers 16 million colours and white from 2,000 K to 9,000 K, a colour rendering rating of Ra90 and up to 1,100 lumens. That matches the brightness rating of the larger T2 bulbs. The bulb also supports Adaptive Lighting in Apple Home, which shifts the white colour temperature through the day.

The T2 strip

The multicolour LED Strip T2 succeeds the earlier T1 strip, which was Zigbee only. The main upgrade is zone control: different sections of the strip can show different colours instead of one colour along its whole length.

Matter Alpha's detailed specs refer to the global LED Strip T2 that Aqara showed at IFA 2026: 108 LEDs per metre, 18 independently controlled zones per metre, a five-channel light system with 16-bit control, and the same 2,000-9,000 K white range. It is not stated whether the Chinese version matches these numbers exactly.

What Matter does not give you

As with other Aqara lights, Zigbee mode with the Aqara app remains the richer option. Animated effects and per-zone settings on the strip may still need the Aqara app, because Matter does not necessarily expose the same level of control over multicolour lighting.

There is one small step in the other direction. The matter.js-based Matter Server used by Home Assistant added Aqara's vendor-specific clusters for the LED Strip T2 in version 1.5.1 on 21 October, so that the strip's music sync feature can be configured. Home Assistant's stable Matter Server app, version 9.2.0, still bundles server 1.4.0, though.

Price and availability

In China the LED Bulb T2 E14 costs 129 yuan, about $19.36, and the LED Strip T2 costs 379 yuan, about $56.87. Aqara has not announced global availability for either. The global strip appeared at IFA, but there is still no confirmed international launch date.
