Aqara’s Smart Lock U600 is on sale in the UK for £229.99. It is built for British multipoint doors on uPVC, composite and timber frames, and it speaks Matter over Thread with Apple Home Key and Samsung Wallet Key. Coverage on 14 October 2026 put the lock on Amazon.co.uk and Aqara’s UK channels at that price.
Built for UK doors, not a US deadbolt transplant
Most Matter locks with Home Key still assume North American deadbolts or continental cylinders. The U600 targets UK multipoint hardware: doors 40-80 mm thick, centre distances 72-92 mm, backsets 35-70 mm, in a slim 335 x 40.5 x 28 mm outer profile. Aqara says a typical fit takes 15-30 minutes with a screwdriver, no extra drilling or wiring, and the install is reversible if you need the original cylinder back. That matters for renters and for insurers who care what sits in the door.
Unlock methods stack up: Apple Home Key on iPhone XS or later and Apple Watch Series 6 or later (with Express Mode and Power Reserve called out in Aqara’s materials), Samsung Wallet Key via SmartThings, fingerprint storage for up to 50 prints with a claimed ~0.5 s match, permanent/temporary/scheduled PIN codes, optional Aqara NFC cards, voice via Siri or Alexa, and a physical key. A concealed USB-C port on the exterior can wake a dead set of four AA cells from a power bank; Aqara quotes up to about ten months of battery life and IP65 on the outer panel for -20°C to 55°C weather.
Matter, Home Assistant and the hub catch
Matter over Thread is the native path into Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, SmartThings and Home Assistant, provided you already have a Thread-capable Matter controller for that ecosystem. Apple Home Key still needs an Apple Home hub (HomePod, HomePod mini or Apple TV). Remote unlock and Aqara-to-Aqara automations through the Aqara Home app want a compatible Aqara hub such as the M3, M200, M100, G5 Pro or G410; that side does not require a subscription.
For a Home Assistant household that already runs a Thread border router (Apple TV, HomePod, OpenThread border router, or a Matter-capable hub), the U600 is one of the few slim UK multipoint options that lands as a first-class Matter lock instead of a cloud bridge. Check your insurer before you pull the old cylinder, and confirm Thread coverage at the front door before you buy: Matter commissioning fails quietly when the border router cannot hear the lock.
