Apple announced HomeView on 13 October 2026: a 7-inch Liquid Retina smart display meant as a household hub for entertainment, FaceTime and Apple Home control. Tabletop and wall-mounted models both start at $299 (U.S.). Pre-orders opened the same day in several markets, with shipping from 13 November. The device is not for sale in the European Union while Siri AI remains unavailable in iOS there.
What it does at home
HomeView can sit on a counter or mount on a wall. The tabletop version uses a hinged display on a speaker base; the wall model uses Schneider Home mounts (USB-C from $59.95, AC-wired from $79.95; PoE later in early 2027). Colors for the tabletop unit are silver, starlight, rose pink and space gray; the wall unit ships in space gray and silver.
Face recognition covers up to six people. Each gets a private Home Screen; Messages and Calendar content only appear when that person is recognised and their paired iPhone or iPad is present and recently unlocked. Shared albums and music remain available to the household.
As a smart home panel it can show favourites, stream up to nine camera feeds, adjust lights, thermostats, locks and blinds by touch or Siri AI, and work with Works with Apple Home and Matter accessories. With a supported iCloud+ plan it can use HomeKit Secure Video recognition (people, pets, packages, vehicles) and optional video descriptions. It also listens for smoke or carbon monoxide alarm sounds and pushes alerts to iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch.
Ecosystem catch and EU gap
Setup and multi-user features need a compatible iPhone or iPad on the latest software. Personal-context Siri AI answers need a paired Apple Intelligence-enabled device with Siri AI on. HomeView also ties into Apple Home Collection accessories announced the same day (cameras, thermostats, lock from LG and Schneider Electric), due from December with some items in early 2027.
Apple lists pre-order markets as Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, the UK and the U.S., plus Singapore from 15 October and South Africa via authorised resellers. EU shoppers are out for now. If you run Home Assistant with Matter devices, HomeView is another Apple-side hub in the house, not a replacement for a local controller - useful mainly if the household already lives in Apple Home.
