Samsung finished rolling out SmartThings hub firmware 0.62.15 on 26 October 2026, ending a 0.62.x update cycle that took almost two months. The release covers the SmartThings Hub v2 (2015) and v3 (2018), the Aeotec Smart Home Hub and Smart Home Hub 2, and the ThingsOne Smart Home Hub. 0.62.15 itself only brings "minor bug fixes and performance improvements", but it completes the rollout of the more important changes that came with 0.62.7 and 0.62.13.

A bumpy rollout

The 0.62.x series started with 0.62.7, rolled out from 8 to 16 September. A follow-up release, 0.62.13, started on 12 October, but Samsung paused it on 13 October after "a rare crash in a handful of Hubs". Version 0.62.14 fixed that crash and rolled out from 15 to 20 October, and 0.62.15 followed on 26 October. The hub reboots during the update and, according to Samsung, most users see less than a minute of downtime.

Main changes

  • Local app-to-hub connection. The SmartThings app can talk directly to the hub when both are on the same local network, even when the hub is offline from the cloud.
  • Better sync after outages. After a long offline period, device states in the app should match reality once the hub reconnects.
  • Joining a different Thread network. Hubs with Zigbee or Thread-based Matter devices can now join another Thread network. Samsung warns that some Zigbee devices may need to be added again if the network ends up on a different channel.
  • Thread diagnostics. Offline diagnostics of Thread devices can now recover automatically from some rare network conditions.
  • SmartThings Find. The Aeotec Smart Home Hub 2 and ThingsOne hub can detect when SmartThings tags arrive or leave.
  • Fixes in 0.62.13: Matter OTA updates, intermittent local connection problems between the app and the hub, and a regression where Z-Wave network repair occasionally failed.

The hub also delivers firmware updates for the SiHAS PMM-300Z2 and PMM-300Z3 power meters automatically if automatic updates are switched on.

Edge drivers

The IKEA BILRESA scroll wheel remote gets new preferences for finer brightness and colour temperature control, and the scroll wheels can now control Zigbee and Matter window coverings.

The catch

Samsung marks several of these features, including local app control, joining a different Thread network, Thread diagnostics, tag detection and blind control from the scroll wheel, as "dependent on an upcoming SmartThings app version". The firmware is on the hubs, but you may not see these features until the app update arrives. Samsung's notes do not say when that will be.

If you plan to move the hub to a different Thread network, for example to share one network with other Matter controllers, keep the Zigbee re-pairing warning in mind and check which channel the new network uses first.
