Anker's eufy brand has put the SoloCam E50 on sale in the US. The outdoor camera was first shown in late September, and MacSources reported its official launch on 29 October 2026. eufy's store sells it as the "S340 Next-Gen" for $229.99, and positions it as the outer perimeter layer of the company's Edge 5.0 security system: a camera meant to watch the edge of a plot, not just the front door.
Two lenses with separate jobs
- Optics: two 4K (3840 x 2160) lenses on a pan/tilt body. One keeps a wide view of the yard, the other uses 12x hybrid zoom and auto-framing to follow and enlarge people or vehicles further away. eufy claims faces are readable at up to 40 ft (about 12 m).
- Movement: 0-348° pan and 0-70° tilt, 135° viewing angle.
- Detection: mmWave radar plus PIR. eufy says the radar can tell a standing person from shadows, sun glare and moving branches. AI detection covers people and vehicles, not pets.
- Deterrence: motion-activated spotlight, red and blue strobe light, siren and two-way audio.
- Power: 10,000 mAh battery and a 5 W solar panel with MPPT charging. The panel can be mounted on the camera or detached and placed separately.
- Storage and network: microSD cards up to 512 GB, no monthly fee required for local recording, dual-band 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi, IP65 rating.
Limits worth knowing
The dual-view mode is capped at 2K, because two 4K streams at once cause lag, according to eufy's FAQ. Full 4K is only available in single-view mode. There is no 24/7 recording, as the camera records events only.
Some features depend on the HomeBase S380: cross-camera tracking, facial recognition, security reports and hard drive storage. eufy's spec table lists no Apple HomeKit support, even with the HomeBase. Voice control works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, and there is no mention of Matter. Owners of older eufy hubs need updated firmware, for example HomeBase 3 at V3.8.8.0 or later, plus eufy app 6.1.20.
Kits and pricing
Besides the single camera at $229.99, eufy sells a 2-camera kit for $449.99, the same kit with a HomeBase S380 for $649.99, and a 4-camera kit with the S380 for $999.99. The single camera bundled with a HomeBase S380 costs $429.98.
For smart home users, the appeal is local storage without a subscription. Neither the announcement nor the product page mentions RTSP, ONVIF or another local API, so anyone planning to use the E50 with Home Assistant or a separate video recorder should check first whether community integrations already support it.
