On 30 October 2026 Seeed Studio launched the XIAO Development Hub, a single site for its thumb-sized XIAO boards. It gathers a board selector, a pinout viewer, a web flasher for the ESP32 models, hardware files and a list of software tools. No new hardware comes with it, but for anyone who keeps a drawer of XIAO ESP32-C3, C6 or S3 boards the flasher alone saves a few steps.
Picking a board
The XIAO line now covers chips from Espressif, Nordic, Raspberry Pi, Renesas and others, with different radios, memory and onboard sensors. The Product Selector filters the range by chip platform, wireless connectivity and protocols, onboard sensors, antenna options and supported development platforms. Shortlisted boards can then be compared side by side.
Flashing from the browser
XIAO ESP Flasher runs in desktop Chrome or Edge over Web Serial. You connect an ESP32-series XIAO by USB-C, choose its port, and the page detects the model and starts the serial monitor on its own. Firmware can come from Seeed's catalog of verified official images, or you can upload one or more of your own .bin files, and the page suggests the flash address for each. The image is checked before writing and verified on the board afterwards. The monitor timestamps every line, from chip detection and write progress to whatever the board prints, and the log can be copied or downloaded for a support request.
If the board does not show up, the page suggests the usual fixes: a USB-C cable that carries data, holding BOOT while plugging in or while tapping RESET to enter download mode, and plugging straight into the computer rather than a hub. For anyone who wants the board in Home Assistant, the page links to the Home Assistant flasher instead. Seeed says support for more XIAO series is on the way.
The rest of the hub
- Pinout Viewer shows both sides of each board interactively, with pin functions for GPIO and communication interfaces and wiring notes.
- Hardware Resources collects schematics, design files and documentation for planning a PCB or an enclosure.
- Software Ecosystem lists official integrations, libraries, firmware and AI tools, plus compatible languages, frameworks, RTOS options and hardware design tools.
- Project Hub shows community builds, and Open Roadmap takes suggestions for future boards and features.
Seeed is also asking for bug reports in a GitHub Discussions section. Reports that are reviewed and approved earn a coupon for XIAO merchandise.
