Anker SOLIX announced a large software update for PowerOS, the energy management system behind its Solarbank balcony solar batteries and the SOLIX X home storage series, on 29 October 2026. The rollout of the first features starts in October, with more planned for December. The update covers all existing Solarbank models, including first and second generation units, the AC models and the Max series, as well as the SOLIX XE and XE AC. Anker notes that individual features depend on the device, the market and technical requirements.
A new charging planner
The core of the update is a reworked planning algorithm that Anker calls the Self-Learning Engine. It decides when the battery charges and discharges by looking at the weather forecast, the household's consumption pattern and electricity prices together. Anker says its internal simulations show up to 30% better optimisation of solar self-consumption for households on a dynamic tariff. That figure comes from the company's own simulations, and Basic Tutorials reports it applies to homes that switch from self-consumption mode to Smart Mode, so other setups should expect less.
Two related features are already in place. Surplus Alert forecasts upcoming solar surpluses and tells the user, so they can move consumption into sunny hours. Tariff Auto-Match has been improved to adapt to fixed, time-of-use and dynamic tariffs, charging the battery in cheap hours and holding energy back when prices rise.
Preparing for bad weather
The new Proactive Risk Alert warns about forecast storms or possible grid disturbances. The system can then build up a reserve in the battery ahead of time. Where the hardware supports backup power, that reserve can be available during an outage.
Homey joins Home Assistant
Anker already had a Home Assistant integration. It now adds a connection to Homey and plans more platforms later in November. Anker gives no names for those. The point of these links is to let other devices in the house react to the battery and the panels, for example by switching on selected appliances when there is spare solar power.
Planned for December
Two more features are scheduled for December. Intent-Aware is meant to accept plain-language descriptions of everyday situations, such as a holiday away, working from home or a change in household demand. The system turns them into an energy strategy and asks the user to confirm the changes before applying them. A Proactive Daily Energy Report will sum up production, consumption, savings and system status each day without digging through the app.
PowerOS first appeared in early 2026 with the Solarbank 4 Pro. Kelvin Cao, CEO Europe at Anker SOLIX, said that the market will be shaped less by battery capacity and charging power and more by interoperable software that ties generation, storage and consumption into one system.
For owners nothing needs to be bought. The update arrives through the Anker app, and the main open questions are which features each model and country will actually get, and which platforms follow Homey in November.
