The BleBox integration in Home Assistant now understands tankSensor, the tank level device from the Polish maker of Wi-Fi modules. The change, by contributor bkobus-bbx and reviewed by joostlek, was merged into the development branch on 24 October 2026, so it should arrive with Home Assistant 2026.11. Like the rest of the BleBox integration, it reads the device over the local network, with no cloud in between.

Four readings

A tankSensor adds up to four sensor entities:

  • Fill level in percent,
  • Liquid height in centimetres, shown to one decimal place,
  • Volume in litres, also to one decimal place,
  • Gauge pressure in millibars, rounded to whole numbers.

All four are measurement sensors, so Home Assistant keeps long-term statistics for them and they can go straight onto a dashboard history graph. Under the hood the device reports its type as multiSensor and its product as tankSensor. The draft documentation adds that, depending on how the device is set up, some readings may be unavailable.

A repair instead of a silent gap

The more thoughtful part of the change is what happens when the probe isn't configured. Without it, the tankSensor has nothing to report, and a bare "unavailable" entity says nothing about why. Now the affected entity still goes unavailable, but Home Assistant also raises a repair under Settings > System > Repairs, titled with the device and sensor names, for example "My tankSensor: Fill level probe not configured". The text tells the owner to open the device settings in the wBox app and set up the probe there.

There is one repair per affected sensor. Nothing has to be changed in Home Assistant: once the probe is configured and readings come in, the entity comes back and the repair clears by itself. Removing the entity also deletes its repair.

Using it

With fill level and volume as ordinary sensors, a tank can drive the same automations as any other measurement. A numeric state trigger on fill level can send a notification when a tank is nearly full or nearly empty, and the volume sensor gives a figure in litres that is easier to read on a dashboard than a percentage. Probe settings stay in the wBox app; the integration documentation already notes that some BleBox settings can only be changed there and that a device should be reloaded after such a change.

The matching documentation pull request, opened on 2 October, adds a tankSensor section and a troubleshooting entry for the probe repair. It wasn't merged yet at the time of writing.
