Philips Hue started rolling out Bridge Pro software version 6.3.2071556020 on October 22, 2026. According to the official release notes, it prepares the Bridge Pro for Custom AI Behaviors, the natural-language automation feature Signify announced at IFA in early September. The feature itself is not on yet. The release notes say it "will be enabled in the app in the coming days".
What Custom AI Behaviors are
Instead of building an automation from triggers, conditions and actions in the Hue app, you describe what you want in plain language to the Hue AI assistant, and it builds the automation. The example Android Authority gives is a Hue dimmer switch that turns the lights on and cycles through scenes, but only when it is pressed after a certain time in the evening.
Hue rules have always been more limited than what Home Assistant or a Homey hub can do with Hue lights. Custom AI Behaviors are meant to close part of that gap without making users learn a rule editor. How far they go beyond the existing behaviours will only be clear once the app side is live.
Late, and only for the Pro
Signify originally promised the feature for early October. On October 21 Hueblog reported that Hue had confirmed a launch "next week", which means the week of October 26. At the time of writing, October 28, there is no confirmation that the app update has reached users.
The feature is exclusive to the Bridge Pro. The original Hue Bridge got its own update, version 6.3.1978545030, at the same time, but Hueblog says it contains only minor bug fixes. Owners of the older bridge who want Custom AI Behaviors will have to buy the Pro and migrate.
Hue rolls firmware out gradually, so the update can take several days to reach a given bridge. The quickest way to get it is to turn on automatic updates in the Hue app under Settings > Software update > Automatic update.
A pattern worth knowing
This is not the first time Hue has shipped bridge firmware ahead of an app feature. The Bridge Pro release notes from January 2026 and October 2025 also describe firmware that "prepared" the bridge for features that reached the app "in the coming weeks". So installing 6.3 will not change anything you can see until Hue switches the feature on in the app.
Hueblog readers raised a separate point in the comments: some would rather have a bridge backup feature than AI automations. Neither the release notes nor the reports cited here say whether Custom AI Behaviors need a Hue account or cloud processing.
