Shelly USA opened North American sales of the Shelly Presence Gen4 on 15 October 2026. The mmWave radar presence sensor is $84.99 at us.shelly.com and is due at Micro Center, Best Buy, Newegg and Amazon soon. In Europe the same model (S4SN-0U61X) already sells for €69.90 in Shelly's EU store, so this is a regional launch rather than a brand-new product.

What it does

Presence Gen4 watches a room with a 60-64 GHz radar instead of a camera or a simple PIR. It is meant to keep seeing people who sit still, which is where cheap motion sensors drop out. Shelly's documentation lists up to 10 customizable detection zones, coverage of about 42 m², wall-mount range of 140° over roughly 8 × 8 m, and corner-mount range of 90° over 7 × 7 m. A built-in light sensor reports dark, twilight and bright for light-aware automations. You can tune height and sensitivity filters to ignore pets and robot vacuums near the floor. Power is USB-C at 5 V (about 2.5 W typical, 3.5 W max).

Marketing copy and the radar table disagree on how many people it tracks at once (10 versus 6). Treat the zone count and coverage figures as the firm numbers; the multi-person claim needs a hands-on check if that limit matters to you.

Radios and Home Assistant

Like other Shelly Gen4 devices it speaks Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5 LE, Zigbee 3.0 and Matter over Wi-Fi. A five-press of the button flips between Matter firmware (the default) and Zigbee. Local control, scripting and MQTT are available without the Shelly cloud. Home Assistant users get the fullest zone and light-sensor behaviour through the official Shelly integration. Over Matter, Shelly says only one room zone shows by default; extra zones appear as separate components up to the ten-zone maximum.

White and black finishes ship with a weighted freestanding stand; wall screws, adhesive and a printable corner bracket are options. Shelly warns against flaky multi-port USB chargers: use a dedicated 5 V adapter that holds a stable output.
