Vevor's 7-in-1 weather station measures temperature, humidity, wind, rain, UV and light outdoors and shows them on an indoor display. A new ESPHome component, vevor_dtx, gets those readings into Home Assistant over the local network. The pull request by Bofr5555, opened on 26 June 2026, was merged by bdraco into the development branch on 18 October
M5Stack has a successor to the M5Paper it launched in 2020. The PaperDIY kits keep a 4.7-inch grayscale e-paper panel but move from the original ESP32 to an ESP32-S3, and they drop the touchscreen and the sensors the M5Paper had. M5Stack added both versions to its online store on 16 October 2026, and CNX Software reported the release on 18 October.
On a voice satellite that also plays music, wake word detection has to share the ESP32 with audio decoding and playback. If the detection task falls behind for a moment, the small buffer holding microphone audio fills up and ESPHome throws its contents away. A new option in ESPHome 2026.11 lets you make that buffer bigger. Contributor mbrudka opene
Home Assistant is getting a native integration for HAVEN IAQ, a maker of indoor air quality monitors from Burnaby, British Columbia, that sells to homeowners as well as to HVAC professionals. Joost Lekkerkerker merged it into the development branch at 22:31 UTC on 18 October (00:31 Polish time on the 19th), almost three months after GitHub user krh
Until now, an AI agent connected to Home Assistant could only work with the entities you exposed to Assist. Home Assistant 2026.11, due in early November, adds a second LLM API aimed at the system itself. It is called "Home Assistant", it only works for administrator accounts, and it is not limited to exposed entities. On 18 October Paulus Schoutse
A long WS2812 strip showing full white can draw far more than the power supply behind it was sized for. ESPHome is getting a way to estimate that draw and, if you want, cap it. GitHub user mvoss96 opened the pull request in April, explaining that he wanted to keep his strips within what his power supply could deliver, the way WLED does. J. Nick Kos
ESPHome devices have long been able to mirror a Home Assistant switch and flip it from a button or a display. For lights that meant on and off only, unless you wrote your own homeassistant.action calls. A new homeassistant light platform fills the gap: it creates a light on the device that follows a light entity in Home Assistant and controls it ov
ESPHome's globals component is getting the storage option that other components already use to choose where a restored value is saved. With storage: rtc, a global lives in RTC memory, which survives deep sleep, software restarts and crashes, and a value that changes every few minutes no longer means a flash write every few minutes. Pull request #13
Selection mode, the checkbox view you already know from the entities and devices pages, is coming to four more places in Home Assistant: dashboards, blueprints, labels and the Installed tab of the Marketplace, the built-in successor to HACS. Until now each of these had to be deleted one at a time. Daan Vervacke (DaanVervacke) wrote all four changes
