Home Assistant 2026.11 stops other users from continuing your Assist conversation

Anyone signed in who knew a conversation's ID could continue someone else's conversation with Assist, together with its history and the tools the agent had available.

ZHA stops reusing deleted Zigbee group IDs, so an old bulb no longer joins a new group

On 23 October 2026 two pull requests were merged into zigpy/zha, the library behind the ZHA integration in Home Assistant. They change how new Zigbee groups get their addresses and make group creation fail with a clear error instead of quietly doing something else. Neither is in a zha release yet (the latest is 2.3.1 from 9 October), so they will r

How to keep the Home Assistant database small: recorder settings that actually matter

Every state change in Home Assistant ends up in a database. A light turning on, a temperature reading, a phone's battery dropping by one percent, an ESP board reporting its Wi-Fi signal every few seconds. The recorder integration writes all of it, and with the defaults that is fine for a small setup. Add a few energy meters, a dozen ESPHome devices

Home Assistant 2026.11 ignores the device block of MQTT entities that have no unique_id

An MQTT entity in Home Assistant can only belong to a device if it has a unique_id. Until now, Home Assistant still read the device block of entities that had none, and that had one visible side effect. Pull request #187856, merged into the development branch on 22 October 2026 and marked as a breaking change, stops that. It is due in Home Assistan

ESPHome 2026.11 makes sub-devices declare a relation, and configs without it will stop validating

If one of your ESPHome nodes uses the devices: list under esphome:, the next release will refuse to compile it until you add one line per sub-device. Pull request #21232, merged into ESPHome's development branch on 22 October 2026, adds a required relation: key to every entry in that list. The change is marked as breaking and is heading for ESPHome

Home Assistant 2026.11 adds a Talk button for cameras, starting with Reolink over RTSP

Home Assistant's own camera view is getting two-way audio. Changes merged on 22 October 2026 in the core, the frontend and the iOS app add a Talk control to the live stream, so you can speak through a camera's or doorbell's speaker without opening the manufacturer's app. Reolink is the first integration to support it. The core and frontend code is
