Matter Server 1.5.0 adds Matter 1.6.1, two-way audio for Matter cameras and IKEA valve calibration

The matter.js-based Matter Server, the controller behind the Matter integration in Home Assistant, reached version 1.5.0 on 20 October 2026. It moves to matter.js 0.18.0, which brings support for Matter 1.6.1, and adds a proper camera API with two-way audio. Home Assistant users do not get it automatically yet: the stable Matter Server app (9.2.0)

Home Assistant 2026.11 stops losing energy costs after restarts and meter unit changes

Two fixes merged into Home Assistant Core on 20 October 2026 make the cost sensors of the Energy dashboard more reliable. One prices the energy used while Home Assistant was stopped, the other handles a meter that changes its unit. Both come from Petar Petrov (MindFreeze), were reviewed by Abílio Costa (abmantis), and went into the dev branch that

How to set up Z-Wave in Home Assistant with Z-Wave JS

A Z-Wave network in Home Assistant has four parts: an adapter plugged into the server, a Z-Wave server (on Home Assistant OS, the Z-Wave JS app, formerly an add-on), the Z-Wave integration, and the devices. The first device usually joins within minutes. Most problems show up later and trace back to a few early decisions: which adapter you bought, w

Home Assistant 2026.11 stops parallel login attempts from slipping past IP bans and MFA retry limits

Two small changes to Home Assistant's login code close timing gaps that let a burst of simultaneous requests get more tries than the limits allow. Both come from GitHub user zweckj, and Franck Nijhof (frenck) merged both into the development branch on 19 October 2026 at 09:33 Polish time. They are labelled as bug fixes, not security advisories, and

Home Assistant 2026.11 lets you add the alert card from the UI and adds an alert badge, but YAML users must rename color

Home Assistant has had an alert card since the September frontend release, but it was built for the home and security dashboards and there was no way to add it from the UI. That changes in 2026.11. Aidan Timson (timmo001) wrote two pull requests that give the card a visual editor, put it in the card picker and add a matching badge. The first was me

Home Assistant 2026.11 lets a step's enabled option and the webhook ID use full templates

Home Assistant has started retiring limited templates, the restricted kind that cannot read entity states, the current time or the variables of a run. Franck Nijhof (frenck) is removing them field by field. The first two fields went into the development branch on 19 October 2026 at 03:45 Polish time, merged by Paulus Schoutsen (balloob): the enable

Home Assistant Supervisor 2026.10.3 turns the leaked-password check off by default and closes a forged ingress header gap

Supervisor 2026.10.3 changes the default of a feature many Home Assistant users only noticed last week: the check that compares app passwords with the Have I Been Pwned (HIBP) breach database. It now stays off unless you turn it on. The release reached the beta channel on 19 October 2026 at 21:43 Polish time. When we checked later that evening, the

Home Assistant 2026.11 fixes Broadlink RM4 Pro RF codes that were learned fine but did nothing when sent

Learning a 433 MHz remote on a Broadlink RM4 Pro in Home Assistant could end with a success message and a code that did nothing when sent. Sometimes nothing was saved at all. Pull request #182652 by dustinreed-info fixes the Home Assistant side of the problem and stops several Broadlink actions from reporting success when they failed. Joost Lekkerk

Home Assistant 2026.11 reads old KACO Powador xi inverters over RS485, from a USB adapter or an ESPHome board

Home Assistant is getting a KACO RS485 integration for KACO Powador solar inverters of the xi range, such as the Powador 6400xi and 8000xi. These inverters have no network port and no cloud service, so apart from their display, the only way to read them is the RS485 serial bus the integration polls.
